As a trained carpenter, materiality and the interactive relationship between objects and human beings have always played an important role in my work. I devote myself to exploring these interconnections, focusing on the design and realisation of projects in the field of media art and interactive installations.

Interactive Works

postidentity_fluidbodies

The concept, developed in collaboration with artist Kata Anna Tüz, explores body identities through fragmentation, deformation, and recomposition. The aim was to challenge traditional binary notions of gender and identity, and to experiment with new hybrid identities. This approach is intended to provide an outlook on the question of what a post-human fluid form of life might look like. The interactive aspect of the installation invites viewers to dynamically alter the representation of the fluid body through hand interaction. The installation was part of the Lucid Dreams Festival 2023, held at Bühne im Hof St. Poelten.

Entangled Singularities

Entangled Singularities is a representation of the intricate and fragile ecosystem that supports all life on Earth. Developed in collaboration with artist Kata Anna Tüz, the sculpture highlights the complex interconnections between humans, animals, and plants in the world. At the center of the installation are the physical sculpture's artifacts and the digitized image as a 3D model. The latter disintegrates further into its individual parts when viewed by visitors. Once the digital image has completely disintegrated, its form resets only when no one is in the vicinity of the installation. Through procedurally generated destruction, the disintegration of the object differs each time, aiming to represent the uniqueness and a certain "beauty" in destruction. The pure observation of the installation and its accompanying destruction clarifies mankind's incumbent responsibility and its impact on the ecosystem. This installation was part of the eXmedia23 vernissage 2023, held at the Fine Art Galerie in Traismauer.

PAREIDOLIUM

Are you seeing faces in everyday objects? So does AI. This phenomenon is called Pareidolia. With the help of real-time face tracking, the interactive installation "Pareidolium" maps AI-generated objects onto the visitors' faces, creating a distorted self-image. This project was presented at the "Aliennation" exhibition in January 2023 in Vienna.

Particle Mirror

What accounts for the fascination with recognizing oneself in a mirror? Is this image just a reflection of light particles, or is it a representation of one's own perception? “particle_mirror” is an interactive installation that consists of a black base with angled mirrors on the upper surfaces. Behind the mirrors are displays which show a realtime pointcloud from an Azure Kinect depth camera. The viewer's image is displayed as a particle simulation that changes depending on the position of the viewer and abstracts the displayed image.
This interactive installation was part of the BaroXmedia multimedia exhibition 2022, held in the garden pavilion at Stift Melk.

Crystal Prototype

As part of a dance workshop at FH St. Pölten, Mathias Juvan and I created a real-time body-tracking prototype using Blender. The system captures the intricate movements of the dancers and displays dynamic crystals according to their positions. The crystals are mapped to a 3D model of the showcased stairs.

3D-modeling

flooding balls

The video was tracked using the 3DEqualizer program. To ensure precise tracking of the table surface, physical markers in the form of black paper squares were placed on it. As collider geometry, the first step involved modeling the room, kitchen cabinets, and dining table. The dining room chairs were photogrammetrized by me and also incorporated into the scene. On the table, a sushi set was modeled and animated. Balls were implemented as rigid body animation, intended to spread from the storage room throughout the apartment and collide with the existing furniture.

Chair Dissolve

The project involved implementing a smoke and particle simulation in the 3D software Houdini. The simulation includes the dissolution of 3D objects, resulting in realistic smoke and particle effects. Houdini is used as a central tool to enable precise and impressive representation of smoke and particle movements. The depicted mesh of the chair is dissolved by smoke or particles, spreading out akin to a fire.

Content Faber Castell

For the Christmas market in Nürnberg 2023, my colleagues Sebastian Schmid and Beatriz Lacerda and I had the opportunity to create a mapping show. We conducted photogrammetry of the castle facade and animated Christmas content. The next chapter will delve into the projection mapping of the castle, which was also executed by our team.

Projection Mapping

Faber Castell

The facade of the castle was illuminated using 4 units of 20,000 Ansi lumen projectors. The mapping was done using Resolume software.

Kästle SKI Mapping

Collaborating with Kästle, my colleague Sebastian Schmid and I crafted a projection mapping installation for their shop window in Soelden. Utilizing two ultra short-throw projectors, we mapped every pixel on two of their new MX line skis. This permanent installation showcases the key features of the skis through seven individual scenes.

contributions

VR in Motion

VRinMotion combines various analogue stop-motion techniques with motion capturing, transforms the results into virtual reality setups and interweaves artistic virtual experiences with philosophical, theoretical and analytical concepts of the science of animation. As part of the research project led by Franziska Bruckner, I was able to actively participate in the research from 2022 to 2023. My tasks included rapid prototyping, video editing of the documentation and visual design of objects in the project.

anna.Zwei

The installation by the artist duo Lichterloh aims to challenge the audience's perception and encourage them to walk around the sculpture to discover new perspectives. For this anamorphic representation of a cube, my tasks were to create the production plan and to manufacture and assemble the individual parts.

anna.drei

As part of the exhibition at the Francisco Carolinum Linz, this installation by the artist duo Lichterloh was planned and realised in the stairwell of the building. My tasks included modelling the objects in 3D as well as helping to design the animations.
